Oktoberfest proceeds benefit Onslow Community Outreach, a 501c3 nonprofit that was founded in 1990. The Outreach provides for the basic human care needs of economically vulnerable and medically at risk residents of Onslow County. Programs are Soup Kitchen, Homeless Shelter, free medical and dental clinics and Christmas Cheer. Collectively, programs impact and change lives of almost 9,000 residents. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.

The first Onslow Oktoberfest occurred in 2008. Activities occur over three days to raise money to support charitable programs, to enhance the cultural offerings of Eastern North Carolina and to attract visitors to Jacksonville-Onslow.
